New Yorker EVVY burst onto the pop scene this time last year with her summer-ready debut EP, also called EVVY. Somewhat surprisingly, she's been a little quiet since, mostly dropping remixes on her SoundCloud and contributing the occasional topline, but that was never going to last too long. 'Tidal Wave' is her comeback track (of sorts), an ebullient chart-chasing pop track underpinned by an insistent '90s house piano motif, buoyant percussion and saccharine vocal samples, it's a timely reminder of just how sharp EVVY's writing chops are. Expect more from the rising star very soon. - DC
